How does the fact that Anne sometimes gets depressed and begins to view the world as confining and unhealthy affect the way readers view her

In the writer's perspective, Anne Frank in that time was feeling the depression of being confined. The readers would feel how she was losing hope and was reaching in the darkness of her thoughts. You couldn't blame her because at that era, it was really harsh and difficult to live.
