What is an advantage of an MRI over an X-Ray?

MRI provides clear, detailed images of the soft-tissue structures, such as the muscles, cartilage, ligaments, discs, tendons and blood vessels, in addition to the bones. An X-ray on the other hand only created 2D pictures of bones.
