The Little Rock Nine, were a group of nine (count em) African American students who enrolled in Little Rock Central Highschool. They were the first black people enrolled in an all white/segregated school. Their enrollment resulted in Cooper v. Aaron which was a case that mandated all states to obey government decisions/laws regardless of whether or not the state agrees with it.
