There were some contacts with Mali from the 1450s, and much stronger ones with Benin after 1485. Ghana was much earlier, and Songhai develops later.

Answer:

The Mali

Step-by-step explanation:

By looking for a route to China like many other countries, the Portuguese ended up finding powerful empires in West Africa. The Ghana in the 1200s, the Mali in the 1300s, and later the Songhai who stayed in power till most likely 1591. The Mali empire lasted until 1670 and Diogo Gomes started formal relationship with the Mali Empire in the 1450s.
