How did competition between European nations contribute to geographic changes around the world in the 16th to 18th centuries?

European nations were trying to fight for colonizing as much land as they could, and this lead to geographic changes because they were able to discover so much land, and when discovering, they sometimes passed diseases, farmed on the lands, etc. Hope this helps.
