A blue marlin can swim at speeds of about 50 miles per hour. What is that speed in feet per second, to the nearest whole number? (Remember, there are 5280 feet in a mile, 60 seconds in a minute, and 60 minutes in an hour.)

Answer:

73 miles per hour.

Explanation:

In order to solve this we just have to convert the 50 miles per hour into feet per second you just have to do a convertion like this:

(50 miles)/(1 hour)((5280feet)/(1 mile))((1 hour)/(60seconds))=\\(5280*50*1)/(60)=(264,000)/(60)  =73.3333 (feet)/(second)

So we just round that number, and we have that a Marlin can swim up to 73 feet per second.

50 x 5280 = 264,000 feet in 50 miles

60 x 60 = 3600 seconds per hour

264000/3600 = 73.33 rounded to 73 feet per second
