EMR stands for electronic medical record. It is the digital version of the paper medical record. The medical record is the documentation of the patient's medical history. The content in both records is equal. EMR has several advantages compared to the paper medical record: easier access to clinical data, ability to establish and maintain effective clinical workflows, has fewer medical errors, improved patient safety and stronger support for clinical decision-making.
