Both Reagan and Bush were significant figures in helping to bring the end of communism in the Soviet Union. However, they did so in different ways, and this was reflected in their relationship with Gorbachev. On the one hand, Reagan was willing to collaborate with Gorbachev, but he was not as friendly towards him as Bush. Reagan was rash, and he was an impulsive enemy of communism. On the other hand, although Bush disliked communism just as much, he wanted to be more amenable to Gorbachev. He appeared to be more moderate and analytical.
