An artist is creating a stained glass window and wants it to be a golden rectangle. A golden rectangle has side lengths in the ratio of about 1 to 1.618. To the nearest inch, what should be the length if the width is 24 in.?

the length is usually, not always, the longer side

so...on the ratio of 1:1.618 it'd be the ratio of width:length

\bf \cfrac{width}{length}=\cfrac{1}{1.618}\qquad width=24\implies \cfrac{24}{length}=\cfrac{1}{1.618} \\\\\\ 24\cdot 1.618=length\cdot 1

and surely, you know how much that is.
