The amount of a person's paycheck p varies directly with the number of hours worked t. For 16 hours of work,the paycheck is $124,00.Write an equation for the relationship between hours of work and pay.

Well, I believe one way that you could write this relationship is to simply solve for one missing variable. Using a supposed equation.

p = t(X)
124 = 16x
124/16 = X
7.75 = X

p = 7.75t

I believe you could write the equation as this.

p = k t is the direct variation equation where k is the constant of variation. In the scenario it would be the hourly rate.

124.00 = k(16)
Divide both sides by 16
7.75 = k
p = 7.75t
