Mendel published that inherited characteristics are determined by the genes or discrete units in 1866. Mendel´s work was not recognize this period of time because there was little Knowledge about cells, chromosomes and genes. The development of microscopy has allowed the deep study of the nucleus and chromosomes.

In 1900 his work was recognized.
