Light waves pass through the cornea, the avascular extention of t he sclera. The light goes through the opening in the iris called the PUPIL. Light enters the eye through the pupil.  The major function of the iris to change the size of the pupil by mean of dilation. The pupil and the iris of the eye work together to control the amount of light that enter the eye.
