How are New York City and Johannesburg similar?

Both are major contributors to the economy of South Africa.
Both are famous for their abundant gold and diamond mines.
Both are known for the theaters of Broadway and the West End.
Both are among the largest metropolitan areas in the world.

From the answers, i will derive that your answer will be D) "Both are among the largest metropolitan areas in the world."

It is not:

A) both of them are not countries, and so they dont have the power to contribute the nations money to South America. Individual people can, but not a state government.
B) Even if Johannesburg has "abundant gold and diamond minds, NYC doesn't
C) Sure, Broadway is NYC's theatre, but West End is not located in Johannesburg. It is located in London, United Kingdom.
