In A Oil Spill why Does the Oil not mix with the Sea Water

oil won't mix because water is polar and oil is nonpolar. the molecules are not attracted towards each other. Molecules in water are of a polar solvent and are attracted to other things such as sugar.

Because oil is less dense than water, it floats instead of mixing in with water. i think this is the answer, but im not sure, hope this helps
