Structural functionalist theory is very concerned with the ways in which structures contribute to the stability of society. what is a structure?

In Sociology, structure refers to a social institution or social interactions[where people live and interact together] that is stable over a long period of time and which helps to meet the needs of the people in the society.  On a large scale, it also refers to the structure of social network ties between individuals and institutions.
