Explanation:

The original and enlarged rectangles are similar .The sides of similar figures are in proportion and the ration of side is equal to the ratio of perimeter.

The ratio of sides of the two figures is 6.2:12.4= 1:2

Let the perimeter of enlarged rectangle is x .

Hence ratio of perimeter = 16:x.

Forming a proportion we have:


(16)/(x) =(1)/(2)

Cross multiliying we have:

x=32 ft.

Perimeter of enlarged rectangle is 32 ft.

+the larger one is double the size since 6.2 x 2 - 12.4

so 1.8 x 2 = 3.6

perimeter = 2 x 3.6 + 2 x 12.4 = 32 feet
