If arthropods' appendages were not jointed, how would that affect them?

They would not be able to move.

An arthropod is an invertebrate animal which has a hard exoskeleton and a body consisting of segments as well as jointed legs. The joints on the legs of arthropods allow them to move and utilize their appendages, similar to the function of the joints that humans have. Examples of arthropods include insects, arachnids and crustaceans.
