the narrator gives the story a theme kind of like eerie music in a scary movie in a way a narrator is there to give you a sense that you should be scared and since tell tale heart by edgar allen poe is a horror story the narrator is critical to give scary thoughts to the reader so he r she can understand  what type of situation the plot is heading to
