According to Erikson, the ultimate goal in resolving the crisis at each stage of development is the virtue an individual carries throughout his/her entire life. It’s more than just resolving a crisis, but a lifelong learning is what matters most. For example in the age of infancy, the crisis is trust vs. mistrust; however, the important virtue that an infant needs to acquire is hope.
