Giuseppe is an Italian trader in the Mediterranean who trades goods from the Middle East, Asia, and other exotic places. Why does Giuseppe want other European explorers to fail in their search for new routes to Asia?

Most likely because if they find a newer route to Asia, (and considering the fact that they do not yet know about North America) it will be faster then having him trade, and he will be out of a job because all trading will happen overseas.
