A cottage industry is a small-scale industry often operated out of a home, rather than out of a factory.

Answer:

Cottage industries have existed for centuries, as weavers and weavers producing handmade items from their workshops at home. By definition, artisan industries operate outside the homes of workers and are run by a few people, mostly family members. Historically, most of these companies have been related to textiles, both in the United States and around the world. In 2011, however, many state legislatures approved accounts that allow home bakers to enter the cottage industry for the benefit of both workers and their communities.
