Hey there!

All that you need to do for this problem is plug in 5 where you see "y" in your given equation. The term 7y indicates that you will be multiplying 7 and the y value together, so you'll multiply 7 by 5 to get the value of that whole term.

4x+7y = 51

4x+7(5) = 51

4x+35 = 51

Now, just solve for x. You can do this by combining like terms and simplifying your equation as much as possible. Remember that addition cancels out subtraction and division cancels out multiplication and vice versa. What you do to one side is something you must do to the other side.

(4x+35) - 35 = (51) - 35

(4x) = (16)

(4x)/(4) = (16)/(4)

x =4

The value of x will be 4 if y is equal to 5.

Hope this helped you out! :-)
