The law of segregation explains how alleles separate during gamete formation. The law was introduced by Gregor Mendel and his idea that "elementen" separate during gamete formation. Men del stated that genes come in different versions, or alleles and that a dominant allele hides a recessive allele and determines the organism's appearance.
