What are the characteristics of Louis XIV's rule in France?

During his rule
1. He spent very lavishly on numerous wars such as the Dutch War, France vs. Spain, and the War of Spanish Succesion
2. Persecuted the Protestants
3. Unfair treatment of the third estate (peasants) reguarding taxes because the Estates General hardly met so they weren't able to fight unfair taxation.
