India is less devloped in the northern part rather than the southernpart. Women have less opportunites or possiblities to do anything, so they have more children (lack of education to contribute). India is on stage 2 on the DTM because of the high TFR due to the large amount of kids they have. meanwhile in the southern part, there is more innovation and women have more freedom to get jobs, etc
