Which recent president am I? I became president in 1988, and only served one term in office. One of the major national policies of my administration was the Savings and Loan crisis. With numerous financial institutions ready to go bankrupt, closings and mergers had to occur to get the U.S. back on solid financial terms. The greatest accomplishment of my term, and what I will likely be most remembered for, is leading the U.S. to a victory in the Persian Gulf War.
