When y is equal to 0, you get the x-intercept.

Replace y with 0 and solve for x.

0 = 4x + 16
-4x = 16 <--- Transpose the 4x to the left-hand side
x = -4 <--- Divide both sides by -4

So, the x-intercept is -4.
