The correct answer is to make Americans aware of societal issues that needed reform.

Jacob Rii's is probably most famous for his book How the Other Half Lives. This investigative book examines the living conditions of immigrants living in tenements. Set in New York city, this book goes through the horrible and unsanitary livind conditions in major cities. The pictures of six or seven people living in an apartment that was only a few hundred square feet raised attention on the terrible living conditions in cities affected by industrialization.
