Solidarity Movements were enacted by Poland's citizen as a form of Protest to Soviet's government and demanded separation from the Soviet Union.
Back then, the government of Soviet Union blatantly executed those who dare to spread bad narrative about them, so it was really dangerous to become a part of this movement.
