The Olmecs were thought to create many things.

Near the town of San Lorenzo stands one of the largest of the Olmec cities, it includes one of the most advanced water drainage systems ever.

The Maya's were thought to have one of the first sightings of calendars but in fact the Olmecs had invented a way of measuring time before the Maya's did.

The Olmecs also created multiple other useful tools like the compass and their own writing system, and even the game called Ulama, which (if you have ever seen the Disney film "The Road to El Dorado") is a game where using only your hip you have to hit a ball through a ring up high on a wall.

Hope this helped.
