Severe weakness in the arms trunk and legs in a patient with a spinal cord injury is recorded as quadriplegia, or tetraplegia.
This means that all of a person's limbs (both arms and both legs) are partially or completely weakened, or even paralyzed. The word quadri refers to number four, and plegia in Greek means paralysis, so the meaning of the term is obvious.
