It's a disease that affects the lysosomes in the cell. Pompe disease affects an individual's life by making it difficult to breathe, walk and perform daily tasks due to weakness of the muscles in parts or most of the body. Most people with this disease only live unto early childhood if they do not have a later onset diagnosis. If not confronted carefully and treated with caution, it can progress and lead to failure in the respiratory system.
