The interaction above is described as a parasitic relationship, in which the tick benefits from the dog by using him as a source of food and transportation, whereas the dog is negatively effected and is the host in this relationship. The tick can endanger the dogs life by transferring a disease! This is the simplest example of a parasitic relationship.
