In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court struck down a Texas law that made abortion a crime.

The court decision of Roe v. Wade Case (1973) established that women had the right to choose an abortion since such right is guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: “…nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”.

Since the case originated in Texas, the Texas laws that made abortion a crime were struck down by the Supreme Court as for it violated a woman’s constitutional right of privacy.
