Which is true about an ocean current that is moving toward the equator?

Ocean currents help the Earth stay warm, but not to cold or to hot. If an ocean current gets to the equator, it will take warm waters and replace them with colder waters, this is done so that they equator doesn't become way hot (it's already hot).
