What does dickinson mean beyond tge literal meanings of the words when she says"we grow accustomed to the dark"? With this interpretation in mind, consider the lines "and so of longer - Darkness -/ Those Evenings of the Brain - " To what might these lines refer?

Emily Elizabeth Dickson is among of the most iconic poets in the American literature during most parts of the 19th century. Born in Amherst, Massachusettes, she emerged to be among the greatest poets due to her way of conveying her feelings to the readers. The phrase "we grow accustomed to the dark" would literally mean that people tend to be accustomed to being ignorant, wherein light would mean "knowledge."
