Quilt squares are cut on the diagonal to form triangular quilt pieces. The hypotenuse of the resulting triangles is 10 inches long. What is the side length of each piece?

Since these trinagles have been cut from squares we know that each side will be equal. 10^2 = 100. 100/2 = 50. The square root of 50 is 5 times the square root of 2. So each side is 5 x the square root of 2. Hope that helps! :)
