Why do you think artists use musical imagery so frequently in their compositions? How do you think these two disciplines lend themselves to one another?

(I do hope that you're talking about the drawing etc. artists) Well, as an artist myself, I find music really helpful. I think some lyrics or some parts of music lets us imagine something inspiring, therefore helping with art. For example, some part of a music piece may remind someone of clocks or the ocean etc., and the artist might base the image off of that image they see in their head! :D
