Basically, an anti acid is a medicine that helps correct the pH balance in your stomach. Its a amalgam composed of various bases, such as magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate (all of which are bases). They buffer the stomach's gastric acid since they are basic in nature.
