the kansas nebraska act was a bill enacted in 1854. the bill stated that the territory has popular sovereignty which meant the population could determine wether or not slavery would be allowed in the territory. people from the nation rushed this territory so they could either for or against slavery in the boarder. this led to bloody kansas where the inhabitants of the territory killed each other over disagreements on slavery.
