Okay, so it is just asking you how do the dimensions of the cylinder relate to that of the square. The height of the cylinder is going to be the same as the square because the square created the cylinder by simply being rolled across into that shape. The lateral area is basically the surface area. An equation for the surface area of a cylinder is:


A = \pi r^2

the lateral area of cylinder is 2 pi r h all multiplied by each other
r = d/2 r = 5
h = 10
2 pi (5)(10)
the answer is 100(pi)
