By definition, an organism is considered to be dioecious when it is distinct as far as its sexual orientation is concerned. On the other hand, it is classified to be monoecious when it primarily consists of separate reproductive organs. Therefore, a worm is classified as such when its reproductive characteristics is taken into account.
