How might small mammals cause weathering??

Answer:

Small mammals cause mechanical weathering as they burrow in to the ground. This breaks up sediment and pushes it to the surface. Once on the surface, other forms of weathering can act on the sediment.

Small mammals like moles, rabbits, and even mice can cause weathering as they burrow into the soil or dig out buried rocks. In doing so, the soil particles tend to be broken down into smaller particles. Also, fresh or undisturbed soil is exposed to the surface which can then undergo further weathering.
