I believe it is true.  Think about this illustration, if you put a light ball and a heavier ball on a trampoline, the heavy ball with pull the light ball toward itself.  And also, the more you spread those two balls apart, the less of an effect they will have on each other.  So, the statement that you provided is true.

True. Two good examples of this are the Earth and the moon, and the sun and the solar system.
