President Andrew Jonhson executed the Reconstruction of the United States after the Civil War. This plan was introduced in 1865 and it granted the white population autonomy to lead the transition from slavery to freedom. Regarding property that was abandoned and occupied by African Americans, this was abducted from them and returned to its prewar owners. This severely affected African Americans hopes of achieving economic autonomy, subjecting them form part of the workforce.
