Let x= apples and y= bananas
x+y= 20
.5x+.75y= 11.5
Solving For x
x= 20-y
.5(20+ y) + .75y= 11.5
10- .5y+ .75y= 11.5
-.5y+ .75y= 11.5-10
.25y=1.5
y= 1.5/ .25
y=6
therefore x= 14
14 apples and 6 bananas
