The ABC Toy Company is creating two similar pieces for a board game, as shown below. Find the value of b that makes the two pieces similar.

Triangle LMN is shown with sides LM marked as 3, LN marked as 4, and MN marked as a. Triangle OPQ is shown with sides OP marked as 9, OQ marked as b, and PQ marked as c.

Answer: b = 12

Explanation:

Since, According to the question,


\triangle LMN\sim \triangle OPQ

Therefore, By the property of similar triangles,


(LM)/(LN) = (OP)/(OQ)

Here, LM=3, LN = 4, OP=9 and OQ= b

By putting the values,


(3)/(4) = (9)/(b)


b = 9* (4)/(3)


b = 12
