If f(x)=x^3-x what is the average rate of change of f(x) over the interval [1, 5]?

average rate of change= [f (x2)-f (x1)]/(x2-x1)
(the same formula of the slope)
x2=5
x1=1
f (x2)=5^3-1 =124
f (x1)= 1^3-1 =0
(124-0)/(5-1) = 31
