Mary Jo said that –13 + –19 equals –6. Is Mary Jo's answer reasonable?

A. Yes, because these are integers, you should subtract the lesser number from the greater number. The answer is –6. B. No, because when you add two integers you should always get a positive integer. The answer should be +32. C. No, because when you add two negative integers, you will also get a negative integer for the answer. The answer should be –32.

-13 + -19 is adding a negative number, which means it's going the wrong way; subtracting.

-13 - 19 = -32

Your answer is C.
