This 2 feet is the other side or the perpendicular of the triangle.

So, as per Pythagoras theorem,


x^(2) +2^(2) =8^(2)


x^(2) +4 =64}


x^(2) =60}


x=√(60)

=
√(2*2*3*5)

=
2√(15)

=
2*3.872=7.744 feet
